5. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana

A riff from 1991 that made Nirvana an international superstar.  This little group came from nowhere and immediately found themselves on the top of the music industry. They stayed there until the tragic death of lead singer Kurt Cobain.


4. Master of Puppets - Metallica

One of the best guitar riffs and best songs from Metallica. The song is from the album with the same name “Master of Puppets”. Commercially not as successful as the legendary “Black Album” but hardcore fans consider it the best Metallica ever.

 


3. Back In Black - AC/DC

This song came right after the tragic death of lead singer Bon Scott. That time the question was: can the band survive without its singer? The answer can be heard on the album: they were back, stronger than ever creating a mark on rock and roll history.

2. Johnny B Goode - Chuck Berry

Some consider it the first rock and roll song in music history. It is from 1958 and is by far the oldest in our TOP 5 list. In the last half a century dozens of groups tried to cover the original song with more or less success and if you know the song you know why.

The most memorable guitar riff in our list. With their debut album „Appetite for Destruction” (1987) they instantly became rock superstars in the eyes of rock fans. With the song Sweet Child o’ Mine they became rock gods in the eyes of everyone. This song is a balanced mix of romance and rock and roll.
