New Year's Resolutions Answer
Tips for Making Good New Year's Resolutions
On New Year’s Eve lots of people around the world make New Year’s resolutions. It’s the best time to make some changes in our lives as the old year goes by and the new is approaching. The problem can be how to keep them. Here you can find some useful tips on how to do it to make a real difference in the New Year.
1. Create a Plan
Setting a goal and not planning how to achieve it is only wishful thinking. In order to really keep your resolution it must be put down into clear steps that can be put into action. A good plan will tell you A) What to do next and B) What steps are necessary to complete the goal.
2. Create Your Plan IMMEDIATELY
Most people have a limited opportunity during the first few days of January to keep up their motivation. After that, they forget their resolutions completely. So get into action as soon as possible. After making a resolution your first thing should be to create your plan as advised above.
3. Write Down Your Resolution and Plan
As the saying goes: words fly away, writings remain. This means that not only you always have to formulate a plan but you also have to put it down. Use a notebook or journal and write down your resolution and the way you’ll reach this goal. This helps you stick to it.
4. ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day'
Nothing big gets accomplished in one day. Resolutions are made in a second, but accomplished with a hundred little steps that we take throughout the year. New Year's resolutions should be nothing more than a starting point. You must develop a ritual or habit for revisiting your plan everyday and look at your progress and the steps you have taken so far. Naturally you always have to consider the next steps that are awaiting you.
And finally...
5. Remain Flexible
Expect that your plan can and will change. Life has a funny way of throwing unexpected things at us, and flexibility is needed to complete even the simplest goal. Sometimes the goal itself will even change. But the most important is to recognize your successes at every step along the way and stay motivated until you reach your aim.
