127 hours open wings movie review

Can anyone make a decent film about the TV programme „Who wants to be a millionaire”? A director proved us that the answer is absolutely ’yes’. After the success of Slumdog millionaire, director Danny Boyle faced a new challenge: make a suspense film about a climber who stuck under a big rock for 127 hours.
The story seems simple: a man vs. a rock. What makes this film incredible is the actor, James Franco’s brilliant performance and the film scenes which are like beautiful postcards. A daring climber, Aron, is trapped inside a deserted canyon in Utah when a huge rock crushes against his right arm. Soon it becomes clear: nobody is going to save him. His only company is his camcorder and nature itself. During this 127 hours he has some visions about his past, faces some questions about his personality and he even has some haunting hallucinations.
When he realises there is no hope, he makes the hardest decision one can imagine: he amputates his own arm with a small, blunt knife. After this operartion he can free himself and soon he is rescued. So the film has a kind of happy ending but what makes this story so incredible is: it is TRUE.
